This Refund Policy applies to whale and dolphin watching and water sports bookings with Raja and the Whales. It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

2. Scope

This policy covers:

• Paid online bookings completed via PayHere
• Confirmed bookings paid by other agreed methods

Quote requests (submitted when online payment is not used) are not paid purchases; no payment refund applies until a paid booking exists.

3. Customer cancellations

48 hours or more	Full refund of the tour fare paid (less any non-refundable third-party fees, if applicable)

To cancel, email rajaandthewhales@gmail.com or call +94 71 333 1811 (booking) / +94 77 695 3452 with your booking reference, passenger name, and tour date. Cancellation is effective when we confirm receipt in writing (email).

4. Cancellations by Raja and the Whales

We may cancel or significantly alter a tour due to:

• Unsafe weather or sea conditions
• Mechanical issues
• Harbour / authority restrictions
• Insufficient bookings (if applicable)
• Other safety or operational reasons

If we cancel before departure and cannot offer a suitable alternative date you accept:

• You will receive a full refund of the amount paid for the cancelled tour, or
• A free reschedule to another available date (your choice, subject to availability)

We are not responsible for your other travel costs (flights, hotels, transport) unless required by law.

5. Wildlife sightings

Whale and dolphin sightings are not guaranteed. No refund is due solely because wildlife was not seen, provided the tour operated as reasonably practicable.

6. Partial operation / early return

If a tour returns early for safety reasons after departure, refunds (full, partial, or none) are at our reasonable discretion depending on circumstances, unless a different remedy is required by law.

7. How refunds are processed

• Refunds for PayHere card payments are normally processed back to the original payment method via PayHere / the card issuer.
• Timing: please allow 7–14 business days (sometimes longer, depending on your bank).
• Non-card PayHere methods may take longer or require manual handling as supported by PayHere.
• You will receive email confirmation when we initiate the refund.

8. Changes of date or passengers

Date changes are subject to availability and our approval. Fare differences may apply. Name changes for passengers may be allowed if notified in reasonable time and required details are updated.

9. Chargebacks

Please contact us first to resolve issues. Unwarranted chargebacks may result in cancellation of remaining services and recovery of costs where permitted.
